COLUMBINE AT 25
A series about the recovery, resilience and triumph in the community that experienced the Columbine shooting in 1999.
For many months, my colleagues and I worked on this series about Columbine: the high school just minutes from our office, and the community that experienced an indescribable tragedy. We know that decades of media coverage since 1999 has often done more harm than good, so we tried to take a new approach.
I am proud of my team's continuous effort to center our community's voices and open-mindedness to how that could transform our approach. More than that, I am honored to have been trusted with these stories. We were not owed the time or vulnerability that we received -- so to those who shared it with us, I am grateful.
